Fly Fly [떴다 떴다 비행기]
2025
Performance, 31:26min.
In Fly Fly (2025), I repeatedly attempted to fly a human-sized paper airplane made from a metal sheet for thirty minutes, drawing on children’s play to stage a Sisyphean gesture. The repeated failure of flight becomes a form of speech through non-speech, asking why cycles of war—moral, social, and economic collapse—are continually reenacted despite their inevitability. This work builds on earlier performances such as Ah, in which I attempted to collect twenty sighs in a paper envelope, further exploring how silence and repetition can operate as carriers of meaning.
